Stepwise selection of natural variations at CTB2 and CTB4a improves cold adaptation during domestication of japonica rice

چکیده

The improvement of cold adaptation has contributed to the increased growing area rice. Standing variation and de novo mutation are distinct natural sources beneficial alleles in plant adaptation. However, genetic mechanisms evolutionary patterns underlying these a single population during crop domestication remain elusive. Here we cloned CTB2 gene, encoding UDP-glucose sterol glucosyltransferase, for tolerance rice at booting stage. A standing (I408V) conserved UDPGT domain originated from Chinese Oryza rufipogon sativa ssp. japonica. is located 56.8 kb region, including previously reported gene CTB4a which arose c. 3200 yr BP Yunnan province, China, conferring tolerance. underwent stepwise selection facilitate expand cultivation high-altitude high-latitude regions. These results provide an example on two kinds describe new molecular mechanism japonica

exploring motivation and english test preparation strategies of iranian pre-university candidates during and at the end of test preparation period for konkur examination

the current study aimed at investigating the relationship between motivation and test preparation strategies (tpss) used by iranian pre-university students in their preparation period for the university entrance exam (uee). due to the importance of uee in iran, this study also attempted to show its impact on these two important variables. to this end, 100 pre-university students in an iranian p...

the stady and analysis of rice agroclimatology in lenjan

the west of esfahan province, iran, is one of the most important agricultural areas throughout the country due to the climate variability and life-giving water of zayanderood river. rice is one of the major and economic crops in this area. the most important climatic elements in agricultural activities which should be considered include temperature, relative humidity, precipitation and wind. so...

Natural variation in CTB4a enhances rice adaptation to cold habitats

Low temperature is a major factor limiting rice productivity and geographical distribution. Improved cold tolerance and expanded cultivation to high-altitude or high-latitude regions would help meet growing rice demand. Here we explored a QTL for cold tolerance and cloned the gene, CTB4a (cold tolerance at booting stage), encoding a conserved leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase. We show th...

Selection on grain shattering genes and rates of rice domestication.

Molecular cloning of major quantitative trait loci (QTLs) responsible for the reduction of rice grain shattering, a hallmark of cereal domestication, provided opportunities for in-depth investigation of domestication processes. Here, we studied nucleotide variation at the shattering loci, sh4 and qSH1, for cultivated rice, Oryza sativa ssp. indica and Oryza sativa ssp. japonica, and the wild pr...
